Inis Úll – Apple Isle Grove, ADF cordially invites you to…
Samhain 2015: “Into the Dark with the Morrígan”
Sunday, November 1st, 2:00pm on the Great Hill in Central Park
The nights grow longer as darkness consumes the day. We turn on the lights to pretend otherwise. We console ourselves that light will be reborn. But what if we were to honor the dark and meet it on its own terms? What would we find hidden within it? For this High Day celebration of Samhain, we shall be honoring the Morrígan and asking this great Goddess to lead us into her cave of utter darkness where many mysteries reside. Yes, there may be that which we fear within—but take heart; we shall make this journey together and share the wisdom we gather.
All are asked to bring blankets. We will communally wrap ourselves in them for both the darkness and the warmth they provide.
So, join us, all folk of good will, in this ADF High Day rite and magical work! Bring gifts for The Morrígan and any of the great Gael Kindreds; bring poems and songs, food or drink, objects of beauty, oaths or whatever your heart tells you will please those we honor.
IMPORTANT: Please note that any alcoholic offerings MUST be in containers which disguise their real identity. We are exercising our religious rights, but it is best to avoid troubles with the authorities.
We will be asking for donations to help cover our Grove’s costs. Five or ten dollars each would help us out greatly–whatever you feel comfortable giving. Your attendance and participation is more valuable than cash!
One or more of us will meet any newcomers at the benches south of the restrooms at the top of the Great Hill (this is on the northwest part of the hill, across from where we hold our rites)—so please do let us know if you are coming!!! To get there, enter the park via “Strangers Gate” at 106th Street and Central Park West, climb the stairs and, when you get to the top, you’ll see the benches to your left (north) between where you are and the restrooms. Otherwise, to find our ritual area: from the restrooms, walk east across the top of the hill and look for us by a lovely oak—hopefully, the fairies will lead you to us!
